IPIX provides 360-degree protection for Illinois city

Reston, VA. - August 10 , 2005–IPIX today announced the deployment of 360-degree cameras and networked analytics at the Mt. Prospect, Ill., City Hall, enhancing the facility’s security and revolutionizing how surveillance is monitored.

IPIX outfitted City Hall with cameras which are monitored remotely at the Mt. Prospect Police Department and scan vulnerable areas including parking lots, outside doors and the main entrance.

After security was compromised at one of its facilities, the Mt. Prospect Police Department sought a digital video security solution, said Deputy Chief Eric Lundt. He then approached reseller Sentry 360 and selected IPIX, a global leader in immersive imaging technology,

“We sought the IPIX system because it had the features that are important to us: high-resolution cameras that are IP-addressable and 360-degree views that gave us a full picture,” Lundt said. “What was unique about it was that viewers at individual desks could pan, tilt and zoom independently. We’re very pleased with the outcome”

The installation, completed last month, is the first of three phases aimed at upgrading security in Mt. Prospect. The next two will secure other high-risk public facilities. “Because of the 360-degree coverage, we were able to buy fewer cameras and ended up saving money. We’re very pleased with the outcome.”
